A few common questions...

Can I get TL;DR about how much more sustainable Craft Mead is compared to Craft Beer?
Mead uses a tiny fraction of the energy and water that beer uses.

For production, mead uses a mere 6% of the energy and 48% of the water to make the same pint of craft product. To put it another way, you can make 16 cans of mead with the same amount of energy it takes to make 1 can of Pale Ale.

The biggest energy savings actually come from temperature stabilizing our product. A refrigerated supply chain, which is required for most craft beer, uses more energy than actually making the beer. Our product is shelf stable at room temperature for two years, which dramatically decreases our cradle to grave CO2 emissions.
What is Bondegaard?
Bondegaard is our eight acre pollinator health project. It's approximately three acres of wild pollinator fields and five acres of protected watershed on two properties.
Wait, you have a restaurant?
In addition to our meadery, we also have a catering kitchen which uses exclusively Viking-era ingredients sourced from local farms. Right now, we only cater our own events.
Do you have a cradle to grave analysis of your product?
We don't. They are very expensive to run, but all of our production data is available in the sections above.

New Belgium Brewing, on the other hand, has an amazing Cradle to Grave analysis which provided a lot of our comparison data. You can read it in its entirety here.
